LENT
February 22, 2023 @ 12:00 pm – April 9, 2023 @ 12:00 pm
As part of our annual program, Christ Ambassadors Prayer Ministry International participates in the yearly 40-days fasting and prayers period, dubbed LENT. It kicks off on ASH WEDNESDAY and runs through to EASTER SUNDAY. In order to be effective and efficient in our relationship with God, we fast from food and and other mundane things. We use this time in bible study, prayer, almsgiving, thanksgiving and other related spiritual activities.
The main focus for the 40 days of fasting and prayers is to quicken our spirit and humble our souls. It is a time to consider our spiritual development, seek God’s direction, and strengthen our bond with Him. The spiritual practice aids in our ability to disengage from mundane things and concentrate on God’s plan for our life.
Fasting is a vital component of the 40-Days Fasting and Prayers. It entails fasting from eating for a period of time. Depending on the preference and health of the individual, the fast might be full or partial. This is to help us discipline our bodies and to align our spirits to God’s will. It also aids in our ability to exercise restraint, grow our faith, and heighten our spiritual sensitivity.
Another pivotal element of the 40-days fasting and prayers is PRAYER. It is a moment to talk to God, open yourself to up to Him, and ask for His direction. Christians pray both privately and publicly during the fasting period, pleading with God for mercy, forgiveness, and guidance. A potent strategy for fostering connection with God is PRAYER, which helps us to experience His presence.
Another essential element of the 40 days of fasting and prayers is the ARDENT STUDY OF THE WORD, This practice enable us to know the thought, ideas, plans and purposes of God for us. This serves as a compass which enable us to navigate through the course of life with ease and safety. Whereas we deny our flesh its carnal food, we feed our spirit and soul with the spiritual food which is the word of God.
Giving to those in need; under privileged and the marginalized is a religious duty in Christianity. During the 40 days fasting and prayers period we seized upon this opportunity to fulfill our religious obligation by being Kind, Generous, Benevolent and Loving to others especially those within our reach. Giving to the needy and the destitute is a kind of worship that is acceptable to God and draws His favor.
It’s also a strategic time to give thanks to God for His mercies and blessings during this period. It gives us the time to retrospect and Introspect to count and number our blessing one by one; To consider his goodness, faithfulness, provision, providence etc. This period gives us the platform to acknowledge, appreciate and to be grateful to God for who he is to us and what he has done for us.
The 40 days of fasting and prayers is a time for spiritual renewal and rejuvenation. It is a time to get closer to God, seek His face, and strengthen our bond with Him. The spiritual practice must include fasting, prayers, ardent study of the word, almsgiving, thanksgiving and other spiritual activities. Believers gain self-control, deepen their faith, and profoundly experience God’s presence through these activities.
